Top Priorities
  • Modernize cybersecurity and IT infrastructure within the federal government
  • Ensure that states laws are not undermined by Internet practices that cross state borders
  • Level the playing field between online retailers and brick and mortar stores
  • Oppose internet censorship

By the Numbers
  • $80 billion:  The amount spent by the federal government on Information Technology each year
  • $101.3 billion:  E-commerce sales generated national wide during the 3rd quarter of 2016
  • 1.6%:  Percentage of taxpayers who voluntarily remit sales taxes for online purchases

  • H.R. 2775 - Remote Transactions Parity Act of 2015:  Modernizes the way sales taxes are collected to create a level playing field between online and brick-and-mortar retailers and to ensure online shopping benefits local communities instead of hurting them.
  • Restoration of America’s Wire Act: This bill would prevent the federal government from forcing states to accept online gaming and gambling when it is illegal in that state. This bill protects state sovereignty and ensures that companies are not using the internet to get around state laws.
