Fred Ferguson, Chief of Staff
Fred returned to Rep. Chaffetz' office as Chief of Staff in June 2014 after a two-year stint as Rep. Rob Bishop's Legislative Director. Fred orginally began his career on Capitol Hill working for then-freshman Rep. Chaffetz as his Staff Assistant. Ferguson quickly moved into a legislative role, covering the Natural Resources and Oversight and Government Reform Committees. During his six years on Capitol Hill, Fred has been a mainstay in Utah and western public lands and energy policy circles. He lead the Congressional Western Caucus as their Policy Director and continues to manage the Utah delegation's multi-county Eastern Utah Public Lands Initiative. Fred graduated from the University of Utah with a political science degree and was captain of the baseball team. He resides in Washington, DC and is married to his beautiful wife, Nicole.
Amber Talley, Legislative Director
Amber Kirby Talley began working as Legislative Director for Congressman Jason Chaffetz in February 2015 after serving as Counsel for the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform since August 2014. Before moving to the Hill, Amber worked as a senior associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP in the firm's tax practice and had worked at the Multistate Tax Commission in its National Nexus Program. She is a graduate of North Carolina State University (B.A., English, 2006), Wake Forest University School of Law (J.D., 2010) and American University (LL.M., Law and Government, 2012 and M.P.P., 2012). A North Carolina native, Amber resides with her husband and dogs in Washington, D.C. and is licensed to practice law in New York.
Chris Esparza, Legislative Assistant
Chris was born and raised in McAllen, Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.A. in Political Science and a Minor in Communications. He is currently in his final semester at American University’s Washington College of Law where he has focused on criminal justice reform issues. Prior to joining the Chaffetz team, Chris clerked in Senator Cornyn’s Judiciary Committee Office, with the United States Sentencing Commission, and with the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office. His hobbies and interests include trivia, cycling, and exploring all the different types of food offered throughout Washington D.C. Chris is also fluent in Spanish.
Colton Miles, Legislative Assistant
Colton was born and raised in Utah County and spent his summers working the family farm. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.A. in Political Science and Mandarin Chinese. Colton interned for Congressman Chaffetz in 2010 in Washington, DC, and later worked in the District Office for two years focusing on energy, natural resources, military, and veterans issues. In 2014, he transferred to the Washington, DC Office as a Legislative Assistant. He and his wife Chaylyn met at BYU and have been married for three years. They are now expecting a baby girl. His hobbies and interests include international affairs, the outdoors, and tennis.
Danielle Suber, Executive Assistant
Danielle was born in Columbia, South Carolina and raised in Quito, Ecuador. She graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in International Relations and French. Prior to joining Congressman Chaffetz, she worked for Senator Lindsey Graham and The Heritage Foundation. She is a member of the South Carolina Jasper Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is fluent in Spanish, French and Italian.
MJ Henshaw, Press Secretary
MJ was born and raised in Orem, Utah. She is a proud graduate of Utah State University with a degree in Journalism. She spent 4 years working for members of the Idaho delegation before joining Congressman Chaffetz in June 2012. MJ enjoys playing the ukulele and running marathons.
Parker Erickson, Legislative Correspondent
Graduating from the University of Utah in December 2014, Parker has been all over Utah playing football and attending school. He’s attended Salt Lake Community College, Utah State University, Snow College, and the University of Utah, all before receiving his degree. Parker was first introduced to politics through an internship with the Senate Finance Committee in 2013 where he assisted in the Committee’s investigation into the IRS. Parker is an avid weightlifter and is excited to be in Washington.
Wade Garrett, District Director
Wade was born and raised in Nephi, UT. For the past four years he has served as a policy advisor to Chaffetz, specializing in public lands and rural area issues. He holds an associate’s degree from Snow College, and bachelor’s degree from Utah State University. Prior to joining Chaffetz’ staff, Wade worked at the Juab County mining company for ten years. He serves on the State Farm Bureau Young Farmer and Rancher Committee which has allowed him hands-on experience with ranching, mining, farming, and other issues that impact rural counties. Wade currently resides in Nephi with his wife and four children.
Jennifer Scott, Communications Director
Jennifer has worked with Mr. Chaffetz in a variety of capacities since 2006 when they began planning his 2008 Congressional campaign. As the campaign manager on the very first Chaffetz campaign, Jennifer was deeply involved in the messaging and communication side of the Chaffetz organization. She has since served four years as the District Director and currently serves as a Utah-based Communications Director. Jennifer has a long history of grass roots activism in her West Jordan community. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in communications and political science. Jennifer and her husband Rusty are the parents of three children.
Jennifer Andelin, Senior Advisor
Jennifer loves the outdoors and has a passion for international work. She received a B.A. from BYU in Latin American Studies with a minor in Music Performance. Before joining the Chaffetz office in 2009, Jennifer hosted international delegations visiting Utah. She enjoys meeting people and learning from other cultures. Jennifer and her husband Nathan have 5 children and are expecting their 11th grandchild. They love to spend time with their family and recently put a zip line in their backyard. Jennifer likes hiking in Utah’s mountains, singing, gardening and traveling.
Kelsey Berg - Energy and Natural Resources Advisor
Kelsey is a good old fashion cowgirl, raised in the gorgeous Heber Valley. She spent her summers riding her horse as a Range Technician for the U.S. Forest Service. By attending school board meetings her junior year of high school, she grew to love politics and subsequently worked on a number of campaigns for local and state races. Before joining Congressman Chaffetz' office in 2014, she worked for three years in government affairs dealing with energy issues. Kelsey is a proud graduate of Brigham Young University with a B.A. in Political Science.
Josh Emfield – Constituent Affairs Representative
Joshua was born and raised in L.A. County, CA. He graduated from Utah Valley University with a B.A. in Political Science with a concentration in International Relations and a minor in Portuguese/Spanish. Joshua interned for Congressman Chaffetz in 2014. He is currently serving as a sergeant in the Utah National Guard’s Military Intelligence. Joshua is married and has three children.
